It is relatively common for young or struggling readers to make reversal errors. This could be mixing up b's and d's or p's and q's or even flipping was with saw. Oftentimes times parents take this as a sign that their child must be dyslexic! That's not necessarily the case! So we developed this miniature intervention to help remediate b/d reversal errors.

This intervention begins by practicing sounds in isolation. We've mixed together b's and d's with other letters of the alphabet. As the instructor you will time your child reading through the exercise out loud and immediately correct any time they make an error. Once they can complete the exercise in one minute or less with 0 errors, they can move on to the next exercise. You may practice with the student after the timings as well via modeling.
The next section focuses on words in isolation, then in phrases. Once again we are directly targeting words with b's and d's and through our proven instructional practices, over time, you will see the student's errors decrease while their speed increases.
Finally, we have stories that are written to be fun and interesting for the students while again practicing b/d words in the context of a complete sentence.
Often times reading becomes a point of contention and frustration between parents and their children. If you need some additional support, we have a more complete reading intervention and experienced, trained tutors who can work with your child 15 minutes a day!
